U.S. Army personnel training with the BAR (Browning Automatic Rifle) at the ranges that were west of Highway One circa 1957. The M1918A2 BAR was used by the U.S. military from 1918-1960s.

Ornette Coleman, 1967

Ornette Coleman at the 1967 Monterey Jazz Festival. Coleman was born March 9, 1930. A violinist, trumpeter and composer. He was one of the major innovators of the free jazz movement of the 1960s

Presidio 1932

The Presidio was also used as a camp for the Civilian Military Training Corps. In this 1932 photo, the C.M.T.C. is drawn up in formation where the current classroom building of the Defense Language Institute are located.
