What is the airship in the background? The USS Macon, stationed at Moffett Field, used to frequent the bay, but she crashed on Feb 12, 1935 off Point Sur. This was the end of an era for rigid navy airships. If this is the Macon, the photo would be from the 30's. This must be another, smaller airship, perhaps a blimp? Does anyone know? Jim Oswald.
ReplyDeleteThe State Theater has "Strange Affair" on the billboard (1944) and the blimp has US Navy. Not sure if that helps. T.Garnero
